 Click to view full-size. 1941 - 1946 Monopoly Popular Dollar Sign ($) Board This EXTREMELY RARE Dollar Sign ($) Edition Chicago Board has the 1938-1941 Dual patent Chicago outer label coupled with a 1946 - 1952 playing surface legal description including and the post war revamped playing surface. This Board is highly unusual and demonstrates Parker Brothers willingness (or haphazard) use of 5 year old inventory with new versions. I believe that some Dual Patent $ Edition games were used as WW2 started, but I also believe that this was short lived and lasted only through 1942. In 1946, the $ Edition games were revised and, in the case of this board, a Parker Brothers worker grabbed an old label and put it on the new and revised board. As stated throughout this website, just another case of Parker Brothers poor quality control. EXTREMELY RARE |
